SUMMARY:Control International 2022
DESCRIPTION:Quality Assurance as a Success Factor\n\n\n\nThe Control international trade fair for quality assurance\, which will be held at the Stuttgart Exhibition Centre from 3rd to 6th May 2022\, provides suppliers and users with a globally recognised technical event which is focused strictly on relevant issues. \nThe trade fair explores all pertinent aspects in theory and offers a highly practical presentation of current worldwide offerings for useful technologies\, processes\, products and system solutions in the field of industrial quality assurance. And thus the nearly 900 manufacturers and exhibitors of QA equipment represented at Control make it possible for manufacturing companies and their suppliers to hone their competitive edge. The supplementary programme with world-class participants and the comprehensive exhibition and information portfolio will once again transform Stuttgart into the business Mecca of the QA industry in the spring of 2022. \nRegistration Link

SUMMARY:Next Version QIF Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Tom Kramer will lead the Digital Metrology Standards Consortium’s efforts to update the Quality Information Framework standard. We are currently in Phase 1. \nPhase 1 of the project will identify what QIF issues/enhancements could be put into a “minor” QIF release\, and what upgrades would have to wait for a “major” QIF release. From that analysis a determination would be made as to whether a minor (short term) or a major (longer term) release is practical for DMSC to undertake as Phase 2 of the project. \nTom will host meetings every two weeks starting May 17\, 2022. \n\nNext Version QIF Meeting\nTue\, May 17\, 2022 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM (EDT) \nPlease join my meeting from your computer\, tablet or smartphone. \nhttps://meet.goto.com/731947957 \nYou can also dial in using your phone.\n(For supported devices\, tap a one-touch number below to join instantly.) \nUnited States: +1 (571) 317-3122\n– One-touch: tel:+15713173122\,\,731947957# \nAccess Code: 731-947-957 \n\nAll interested parties are welcome and encouraged to participate. \nPlease contact DMSC Executive Director Mark Thomas for more information on how to participate in these meetings: mark.thomas@qifstandards.org.

SUMMARY:QIF Tech Series Coffee Chat
DESCRIPTION:Presentation Topic:\nDigital Calibration Certificates\n& the Quality Information Framework\n\nPresented by:\nRobert Brown\, Mitutoyo\nEd Morse\, UNC Charlotte\n\n\nWatch Now: Click Here\n\n  \n\nAbstract\nA description how the Quality Information Framework (QIF) can be used for a secure interoperable standard to exchange metrology equipment calibration certificate information. This presentation will include an overview of the work being done globally in the PTB National Metrology Institute (Germany) on Digital Calibration Certificates and the need to harmonize with QIF. \n\n\n\n\nRobert Brown received a BS in Physics from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and an MBA from the Northern Illinois University. 25 years of experience in metrology and manufacturing specializing in MeasurLink application development for quality data acquisition\, management\, and analysis. He serves as a chair of the DMSC/QIF Statistics Working Group. Robert co-authored the book Information Modeling for Interoperable Dimensional Metrology. Current responsibilities include managing software research and systems development at Mitutoyo America Corporation.\n\n\n\nEd Morse After receiving his BS from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania\, Ed Morse spent four years pursuing personal interests before earning a Master of Engineering degree from Cornell University. Ed then worked for the Brown and Sharpe Manufacturing Company for four years\, first as an application engineer for CMM software\, and then in the Advanced Systems group. In 1993 he returned to graduate school at Cornell\, receiving his MS and PhD. Since 1999\, Dr. Morse has been a professor of mechanical engineering at UNC Charlotte\, pursuing research in both tolerancing and metrology. Recent interests include extending his experience to large-scale metrology systems (Laser Trackers\, LIDAR systems\, and Photogrammetry). Specialties: Dimensional Metrology\, Coordinate Measuring Machines\, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing\, and Statistical Process Control\n\n\n\n  \nWatch Now: Click Here \n\nThe Digital Metrology Standards Consortium (DMSC) member QIF End Users & Solution Providers present QIF Tech Series topics monthly through November 2022. \nThe webinar series will focus on QIF-centric topics and related subjects related to Digital Manufacturing such as Model-Based Enterprise (MBE)\, Model-Based Definition (MBD)\, GD&T and more. The 20-30 minute presentations may be introductory level or more advanced content\, and are intended to educate a broad variety of QIF implementers or future users. There will be a 15 minute Q & A session after each of the presentations. \nWebinar technical content is provided by both QIF End Users and QIF Solution Providers with the goal of sharing real-life QIF or related implementations by advanced manufacturing operations. \nClick Here for all QIF Tech Series Coffee Chats scheduled for 2022.\nIf you are interested in presenting a QIF implementation case study\, please contact DMSC Executive Director\, Mark Thomas by email.
