A single part could result in millions of digital data points that will need to be collected and analyzed. Dimensional and other measurement data are key elements that help assure product quality and monitor design compliance.

While real-time data analysis can provide immediate process corrections if needed, the retention of this data for statistical or analytical purposes presents a daunting data management task. This important need is magnified when designs and processes become more complex. As the supply chain evolves and expands, manufacturing and metrology data need to be communicated to outside vendors or factories that could be literally on the other side of the world.

QIF is a standard (ISO 23952-2020) that can help communicate product information and digital metrology data from CAD design all the way through to manufacturing and inspection.

Hany Abdel-Motaleb (Mitutoyo America) explains how the digital thread is being used to guide progressive Aerospace companies to continued manufacturing success. Read more: Data Management Software Aligns with QIF

Hany Abdel-Motaleb and Paul Sevin (Caron Engineering) will be the guest presenters for the upcoming QIF Tech Series Coffee Chat webinar on Tuesday, 27 July 2021.
