Non-Contact Measurement Working Group: Meeting Notes & Updates

This working group actively met monthly between October 2020 and December 2021. Participants included multiple DMSC members and industrial/academia from the National Metrology Institute of Japan. It’s objective was to build on a formal request by the International Standardization Committee for Digital Manufacturing Innovation, Japan. A new Working Group charter is being developed under the leadership of our DMSC Board Directors serving as Chair and Co-Chair of this Working Group.

NCM WG Chair: Larry Bergquist, formerly of Deere & Company / DMSC BOD
NCM WG Co-Chair: Ray Stahl, formerly of Kotem/QVI, now 2BMobile / DMSC BOD

Model-Based Characteristics Working Group: Meeting Notes & Updates

The Model-Based Characteristics Working Group launched June 2020 and conducts twice monthly virtual meetings on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month for the purpose of developing a draft proposal for a new ANSI standard for Model-Based Characteristics: Nomenclature, Definitions, Symbols, and Practice.

Chair: Mark Neilson, TechAzul
Co-Chair: Curtis Brown, Honeywell FM&T / DMSC President

We encourage participation in this WG by DMSC Members as there is still plenty of time for meaningful contribution before the final draft is submitted to the DMSC Quality Measurement Standards Committee. Once submitted to ANSI, review and approval can take many months before a new standard results (targeted for 2022).

Creo 5 Data Set to Improve 3D Model Use

DMSC Member Action Engineering recently announced the development of a model that will improve the way models are used in the automotive industry. The company has gifted this solution to the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) and Digital Metrology Standards Consortium (DMSC) in January 2022. These templates represent 120 hours of donated time by engineers with a cumulative two decades of MBD experience, representing members of four standards bodies.
