DMSC membership continues to grow as we welcome our newest member, Newport News Shipbuilding. Founded in 1886, NNS is the sole builder of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers in the United States and is only one of the only two U.S. shipyards capable of building nuclear-powered submarines.
The firm has embraced Model-Based Design and considers QIF to a be a key element in their MBE implementation. Ryan Bounds, the NNS representative, was first introduced to DMSC a couple of years ago through our QIF Coffee Chat webinars. The MBD Process Lead for NNS, Ryan has participated as a DMSC Standards Committee member and was a part of the meeting last year in Ft. Worth that approved the DMSC Model-Based Characteristics (MBC 1.0) proposal for ANSI.
Moving forward, Ryan’s main interest is “QIF training and understanding more about how QIF can benefit our company goals”.
