On 14 April 2025, the Model-Based Characteristics standard from DMSC made another step forward in achieving ANSI approval.

A DMSC Standards Committee meeting at MxD was held with the purpose of voting to approve a Model-Based Characteristics standard which will be submitted to ANSI as a proposed ANS (American National Standard). The proposal, essentially the current DMSC MBC 1.0 version, will be updated with ANSI labeling to be compatible with ANSI requirements.

After multiple media broadcast invitations to the community, a group of 19 companies formed the DMSC Standards Committee (SC). The SC then briefly reviewed the proposed document and voted unanimously to accept the 188-page proposal as the document to submit to ANSI.

Since part of the ANSI process had previously been completed, the usual Public Review process will be skipped, with the next step being a review by the ANSI audit committee. Upon that approval, the proposed MBC document will be submitted to ANSI for approval as an American National Standard.
